Managing eight buildings in the Chinatown-International District (CID), as well as properties in Yesler Terrace and North Beacon Hill, SCIDpda is home to more than 700 residents and 48 local businesses. With such a diverse and vibrant community, the organization’s Resident Services team has made it their mission to connect with people of all ages and backgrounds, fostering relationships and providing crucial support.

In a city often characterized by the “Seattle freeze,” SCIDpda’s approach stands out. Their Resident Services team offers support for housing stability, financial guidance, connection to essential community services, and advocacy for resident needs—all with a personal touch.

At the heart of this effort is Jade Yan, SCIDpda’s Resident Services Manager. Jade’s expertise in relationship-building has been instrumental in strengthening connections within the community. Before joining SCIDpda, Jade worked in outreach, helping Seattle’s unhoused population secure permanent, supportive housing.

Since stepping into their role, Jade has brought fresh energy to SCIDpda’s initiatives. By applying proven strategies from previous positions, they’ve introduced weekly office hours for residents and a series of monthly community events. These gatherings have quickly become highlights for residents. Notable examples include a First Day of School Ice Cream Social at 13th & Fir, Bingo Night at the Domingo Viernes Apartments, and a Cantonese/Mandarin listening party in collaboration with SEA Vinyl Society.

Looking ahead, SCIDpda’s Resident Services team is expanding, with a new coordinator that has recently joined the team. This growth reflects the organization’s commitment to addressing the evolving needs of its residents. By hosting engaging events, providing essential resources, and building lasting relationships, the team ensures that everyone in their community feels valued, connected, and empowered.

SCIDpda’s efforts are a testament to the power of community-driven initiatives. By putting people first and embracing creativity in their outreach, the organization continues to strengthen the bonds that make Seattle’s neighborhoods vibrant and resilient.
