The Seattle Chinatown International District Preservation and Development Authority (SCIDpda) is thrilled to officially kick off its 50th anniversary celebrations! Under the theme Beyond 50 Years: A CID for All Generations, this milestone year is dedicated to honoring SCIDpda’s history, community impact, and continued commitment to preserving, promoting, and developing the Chinatown International District (CID) as a vibrant and thriving neighborhood.
As part of the celebration, the organization is hosting three tours that will teach guests about a different era in the neighborhood’s history.

Rooted in Preservation (1975-1999)
Discover the early years of SCIDpda, when community leaders fought to preserve the Chinatown International District and secure vital resources like the Bush Hotel and New Central Hotel.
JULY 10
Growing with Community (1995-2014)
Explore SCIDpda’s expansion into real estate development. This period saw major investments in housing, small business support, and cultural spaces that define the neighborhood.
SEPTEMBER 18
Building for Future Generations (2015+)
Learn how SCIDpda has evolved to meet new challenges, focusing on SCIDpda’s strategic growth, community partnerships, and vision for the next 50 years.
