February 13, 2021: The CID Restaurants and other Small Businesses Relief Fund has now closed. Thank you to everyone for your support of small businesses in the Chinatown International District. Please continue to patronize your favorite small businesses directly, as they will all need your continued support throughout the pandemic.
About
The CID Restaurants and other Small Businesses Relief Fund – managed and disbursed by the Chinatown International District Business Improvement Area, Friends of Little Saigon, and the Seattle Chinatown International District Preservation and Development Authority (the CID Business Relief Team) – will give direct dollars to the small businesses in the CID to help them mitigate the impacts of this pandemic. The fund was seeded by a generous $100,000 donation from Vulcan. This initial contribution will focus on restaurants in the neighborhood, which have seen a severe decline in business since early February. 100% of the relief fund will go directly to restaurants and other small businesses in the Chinatown International District (CID).
The Chinatown International District (stretching from 4th Avenue to Rainier Ave. S and Yesler Way to S Charles Street) is the heart of the Asian American Pacific Islander community in the Puget Sound region. The neighborhood is home to over 400 small businesses. This includes 140 restaurants, many of which have suffered a significant loss of revenue since late January when the first COVID-19 case was confirmed in Washington State. Our businesses contribute so much to what makes the Chinatown ID a wonderful place. Many people have asked how to support these businesses, and eating the delicious food or visiting the retail that is still open helps. But we have heard that people want to do more.
Additional donations raised by this fund will continue to be distributed directly to small businesses in the CID as we continue to learn the impacts of this situation on our neighborhood. 100% of the seed money from Vulcan and your individual donations will go directly to our small businesses.
